Colin and Nigel have been a bit neglected recently - Day One of painting
I haven't had any time for many months to work on my InMoov and Droid robots. So today as the weather was fine I took the opportunity to sand down the R2D2 body. I had body filled Colin my Droid back in January this year and its just been sitting in my workshop waiting patiently.
Anyway, a few hours of sanding and this is where I have got to today, below.

Here was were I got to last January, below. I was a bit concerned that I had not mixed the two-part filler enough and that it would not set.
However, once I got sanding, it seems fine. There are still dark areas of filler but it feels OK to the touch and very smooth.
I have been working on the panel joints to get them as smooth an edge as possible. Not finished yet but generally the surface seems good. Its looks worse in the pictures. An undercoat of filler paint will be the test
Meanwhile, Nigel my InMoov has had an arm drop off! I was moving him around on his trolley when the arm came loose. So as you can see below, its hanging by a tiewrap at the moment.
The top and bottom parts of gear holder have come apart, not surprising really with all the torque on the joint. I obviously need longer screws or ideally bolts through the whole block.
Anyway, work to do there. I may look into printing the new InMoov style shoulders.
Plus I need to complete the neck modifications, below. Actually they are pretty much done, I was having issue with Wi-Fi connections to the EZB controllers that stopped me completing the neck.
That's it for today, hopefully good weather tomorrow and time to undercoat the Droid body.
