Painting - Day Four and rain stops play [but only late in the afternoon]
Lots of sanding [of course] and more body filling and more undercoat spraying. And my online purchase of eight cans of Rustoleum "Heirloom" satin white arrives. So first coat of the topcoat paint at last.
As mentioned, the final coats of paint will be with the Rustoleum in white. Other colours I am planning on are "Reed" and "Velvet" greens

and a lot of used cans going here...

I think its a bit too cream in colour, but fine as an initial coat. I bought the "Heirloom" as it was on offer but have now found the "standard"white also going reasonably cheap so have bought some of that as well for the final coat.
Its certainly filling up a lot of the marks in the prints. As you can see below, a lot of the print lines are beginning to disappear on the cylinder pieces and this is only a first top coat.
Here is the main body prepped and ready for painting
and a tin of paint later...
There are still some imperfections but generally I think its all going well. The paint gives the plastic a wood look and feel to it. But shows how smooth a surface is possible. I will sand it all down with a fine paper when fully dry. And then another two coats of paint at least.
Here are more parts ready to paint
And a tea break stops play, below
These leg parts have really printed very nicely and the paint finish is looking great, below
We had odd short periods of rain today in between a really lovely day full of sunshine, but I did have to run around a few times to bring everything into my workshop during the showers.
Finally at 5pm a massive downpour of rain and "rain stops play" and everything indoors till another day of painting soon.
Just squeeze in something here I think, didn't need this space
That's a great place to put these doors to dry off
And as you can see - a very packed workshop, below.
So a great day of painting and in between the rain, wonderfully sunny. Really happy with how much painting I got done today and also the finish of some pieces even with just one coat of paint on them.
