Painting - Day Six
A beautiful sunny day so lots of preparation and painting today.
I tried out the darkish red colour on the dome. This is painted over the initial black finish. Just a single coat here and I like the mottled effect. This will not be the final finish.
Here is the body with initial attempt to add gunmetal base so I can sand/scratch some of the final coat back a bit to show metal underneath.
I need to be careful with the gunmetal paint as its corrosive and acts a bit like paint stripper. Once dried off its fine, just needs sanding back a bit. This happened [below] because I had some drips and rubbed them off with a tissue. Will sand back when dry.
earlier in the day...
and later, are several parts painted with the dark green colour and also the metallic silver
I was originally going to have these in the green but have now decided on the metallic finish. To the left in the picture are the "arms" in green. [below]
